Ocean of Wisdom Celebrates First Year with Special Anniversary Video

OOW logoThe website Ocean of Wisdom is celebrating the completion of its first year on February 21 with a special anniversary video to be created by Geshe Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche.

The website (www.oceanofwisdom.org), a project of Ligmincha International, highlights video excerpts of teachings, talks and interviews by Tenzin Wangyal, along with a few other related teachers.

Starting on February 21, anyone may offer ideas for Rinpoche’s special teaching topic by going Ocean of Wisdom and submitting their suggestions in a text box.

Ocean of Wisdom will compile the suggestions and will create a list of the most mentioned topics. People can vote on this list beginning Feb. 28 and continuing for a week, through March 6. Rinpoche will then record a teaching on the winning topic, which will be posted on Ocean of Wisdom once it is completed.

“This video aims to serve Ligmincha’s mission of bringing the teachings and community closer together in a more participative and inclusive way,” says Paris Smithson who, at Rinpoche’s request, began Ocean of Wisdom last year. “If people engage and appreciate it, it can be repeated.”

Currently 180 videos are available on the site. About 30 volunteers are working in 12 languages to subtitle some of the videos. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer translator, click on the link below.
