Chamma Ling Fall 2023 Retreats

Chamma Ling Colorado

AHSacred Art Calligraphy Retreat with Lama Kalsang Nyima
and Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche
September 13 – 14, 2023
Crestone, Colorado

Lama Kalsang Nyima, resident lama of Ligmincha Mexico and renowned artist, will teach the sacred art of calligraphy as a path of creativity and meditation. Everyone will learn to use the brush as an instrument of insight in the creation of the sacred Tibetan syllables of AH OM HUNG RAM DZA. We will provide all the necessary brushes, inks and paper. All you provide is inspiration. Since this retreat emphasizes hands-on participation and creation of artworks, there will not be a Zoom option. Due to the space we will be using at Colorado College, the retreat is limited to 16 participants. Lama Kalsang Nyima will be leading the retreat and Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche will also be present and participating.

The retreat begins Wednesday, September 13 at 1 pm so that participants can travel to Crestone Wednesday morning, and will run until 5 pm. During Thursday you will draw and practice from 9 am to 5 pm, with a break for lunch. The teaching and practice will be informal, as you would find in an art studio, with everyone working in their space as the teachers check in with each person, teaching, demonstrating and making suggestions. The A-Tri part 3 retreat with Tenzin Wanygal Rinpoche will begin the following morning, making it is easy to attend retreats in succession.

Food and Housing
We will be providing refreshments at the retreat. Participants will be responsible for their own meals and housing. There are many B&B’s, inns and unique stays in the Crestone area. Local housing can be located through AirBnB, Vrbo.com and other online sources.

Work Study
There will be a limited number of work-study positions available for people attending the retreat on site. In exchange for your help in putting on the event we will adjust the fee to fit your circumstances and resources. Please contact Gregory Parascenzo if you are interested in helping.

Covid Precautions
If you are experiencing symptoms, exposed to someone with Covid, or test positive please do not attend the retreat. We will happily provide you a full refund. Masks will be encouraged but not required.

Tenzin Wangyal RinpocheA-Tri Dzogchen Training Retreat, Part 3
September 15 – 17, 2023
Crestone, Colorado and Online via Zoom
With Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche

We are very happy to share that Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche will be returning to Crestone, Colorado to continue his teaching on the pith Dzogchen text, The Stages of A-Tri Meditation, by the 13th century master Bru-sgom Gyal-ba Yung-Drung. The A-Tri system is a step-by-step guide that introduces preliminary practices, the nature of mind, and then progressively demonstrates how to deepen one’s practice and understanding until ultimate liberation. The A-Tri is an essential meditation training guide based on the ancient Zhang Zhung Nyen Gyud (Oral Transmission of Zhang Zhung). You will not discover a more clear and concise guide to Dzogchen practice.

This year we are pleased that Tenzin Rinpoche will be sharing the A-Tri teachings from the beautiful Colorado College campus in Crestone, Colorado, and simultaneously with our world-wide sangha via Zoom. We hope that you are excited as we are to be able to attend teachings in the presence of our teacher in the inspirational setting of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains of Colorado. We also will enjoy the teachings and practice one morning on the sacred grounds of our nearby Chamma Ling retreat center and all will have the opportunity to tour our center and see our cabins.

This is a continuation of the training Tenzin Rinpoche has given 2021 and 2022 for Chamma Ling. As part of the registration package, everyone attending will have access to the video recordings from previous years which can be studied before this year’s retreat.
