Inner Heat Practices: Tummo and Wim Hof Method

with Wim Hof, Elissa Epel, Geshe Tenzin Wangyal and host Alejandro Chaoul-Reich

Tibetan tummo is an ancient method for cultivating inner fire — the joy, bliss, and warmth of our being. We all naturally have these qualities within us, but they are often unreliably available because we have not learned to access them or to stabilize our attention in open awareness. With practice, tummo is said to produce the “inner fire of realization.”

How is this inner fire produced? Does it manifest as actual heat? What preparation is necessary to succeed with practices that produce inner heat? How rigorous are these practices? Are they safe for people of all ages? Can they be used for healing? Can they be dangerous?

These questions can also be asked about the Wim Hof Method, which also incorporates conscious breathing, yoga, and meditation. To find answers, join this live broadcast with Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche, who among many Tibetan practices also teaches tummo; host Alejandro Chaoul-Reich; and their guests Wim Hof and Elissa Epel. They will discuss these and other practices that generate inner heat.

Dr. Epel will share some of her ongoing research into the Wim Hof Method as well as research into psychological, social, and behavioral processes that improve the body’s ability to handle stress and slow aging.
