Losar in tibetan, means „New Year“, and is celebrated by all tibetans, bönpos and Buddhists Center all around the Globe. Ligmincha Mexico is pleased to invite you to join us and celebrate by reflecting on the passage of the old year and how to face the possibilities of the new year.

This year is associated to the WATER TIGER, according to the Tibetan lunar calendar, Losar year 2149 falls from March 3rd through 5th. Traditionally, celebrations begin three days before Losar or New Year. So preparations for the new year begin on March 1st, and the celebrations take place from March 3r to 5th.
Losar is a very auspicious time with celebrations all over the world. It is time to give our farewells to the old year, to the positive and the negative; a time to express gratitude and offer prayers; and a time to invite all good for the new year! It is a time to clean the house, decorate with flowers, hang prayer flags, make offerings, burn incense and cook special meals, such as the traditional gu-thok noodle soup and chang (barley beer).
For those who live near a gompa (meditation hall) is, during the first day of Losar, when families go to the gompa to pay their respects to the lama; circumambulate the place, offer prayer flags and raise them at home spending that day with the family. You can bring offerings to the gompa, such as flowers or butter lamps (candles) or biscuits to share with the Lama, receiving blessings so that all the activities of the coming year will be successful.
