Whether you are seeking simple tools to ease stress, wishing for self-discovery, or feeling drawn to the authentic spiritual path of Bӧn, Calm Abiding offers a gentle and accessible place to begin. This foundational practice—known as calm abiding—helps you steady your mind, cultivate clarity, and reconnect with your natural sense of balance.

Through calm abiding meditation, we learn to catch your wandering thoughts and develop greater focus and stability. Instead of being carried away by a restless mind, we discover how to guide it with ease. In this clarity, we begin to recognize the difference between the mind’s busy movement and its deeper, essential nature.

Calm Abiding: The Medicine of Tranquility is offered to welcome beginning, continuing, and senior students of Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche, as well as anyone—young or old—who is completely new to meditation or to the Bӧn tradition of Tibet. This retreat is a warm and supportive entry point for all.

I encourage people to attend the Calm Abiding retreat because the intensity of focus developed by this specific practice is very beneficial. Many traditions emphasize this. The only way to deeply understand profound teachings such as Dzogchen is to have a good experience of Calm Abiding. Without developing tranquility, there is no real experience of the nature of mind or sitting properly. To sit well, Calm Abiding is fundamental!
