Geshe Murig Nyima kunchap was born in 1964 in a small village called Tichu-rong, at Dolpo Nepal, once a province of Zhang Zhung. Ever since he was eight years old he he studied Tibetan language and literatura as well as measuring the Thanka paintings and Stupas with his grandfather. From forteen to seventeen years old he learned how to make sacramental Tormas and teh realization of many rituals and offerings. He received oral instructions of preliminary practices and initiations from his root master Barle Rinpoche. Since then he lives at Menri Monastery where he is a monk.
