Serenity Ridge Retreat Center, headquarters of Ligmincha International, now has a monthly newsletter!
Located in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in central Virginia, Serenity Ridge was established in 1998 by Geshe Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche, teacher and meditation master in the Tibetan Bon tradition.
Thanks to a successful start to our 2022 fundraising activities, Serenity Ridge Retreat Center will soon have 15 stunning prayer wheels lining the path between Kunzang Khang and Garuda House. These prayer wheels were gifted to the center by Vicki Wheaton just as covid struck and everything had to shut down. Now, thanks to more than $13,000 raised through the summer auction and the generosity of donors contributing directly, work is now under way to install the wheels.
For the first time this fall, Fall Retreat and Serenity Ridge Dialogues will merge! The retreat, titled The Five Elements and Serenity Ridge Dialogues, will be held October 11–16, both at Serenity Ridge Retreat Center in Virginia and online via Zoom.
In the mornings, Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche will teach on the five elements. The afternoons will bring presenters together around specific areas of scientific investigation to explore how practices work.
Join Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche for the annual two-week Summer Retreat at Serenity Ridge in Virginia or online via Zoom. The Seven Mirrors of Dzogchen is an essential text of the Tibetan Bön dzogchen tradition, which directly introduces us to the clear, open awareness that is our true nature and offers methods for maintaining a connection to the natural state.
Geshe Denma Gyaltsen, resident lama of Ligmincha Texas, and Lama Kalsang Nyima, a resident lama for Ligmincha Mexico, are returning to Serenity Ridge to visit, teach and work on various projects for about six weeks, starting the end of May. Please welcome them!
Beginning on Wednesday, Mar 9, 2022 Ligmincha instructors and practice leaders will offer live, weekly guided meditation, mantra and prayer sessions Zoom from 7 until 8 pm, New York time. To find the local time in your area, click here. All are welcome, and there is...
Join us March 31–April 3 in person at Serenity Ridge in Virginia, or online via Zoom, for Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche’s spring retreat. Rinpoche will be teaching on The Nine Winds: Exploring the Union of Breath and Awareness.
The winds (lung, prana or chi) are the essential energy underlying all of existence. In the chapter of the Bon Mother Tantra, “The Unceasing Sphere of Light,” nine winds describe the movements of the layers of consciousness from gross to subtle.
It is with regret that Serenity Ridge Retreat Center has postponed reopening its in-person retreats with Geshe Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche until spring 2022.
Originally, the Winter Retreat on the Experiential Transmission of Zhang Zhung, Part 2, was planned to be both in person (for a limited number of 50 participants, with social distancing) and online via Zoom. But due to uncertainty caused by the pandemic and the latest news of the new variant, it has been decided to hold the Winter Retreat only online.
Serenity Ridge is finally reopening after nearly two years away! But reopening isn’t a matter of simply turning the lights on—it’s a different world after Covid-19 and we must ensure that all our friends and sangha members remain safe and secure.
With that in mind, a generous donor pledged up to $15,000 to help with our reopening costs through a dollar-for-dollar matching grant. At this important time, your dollars can make all the difference. Every $1 you give results in $2 to pay for important building and safety improvements.
The Experiential Transmission of Zhang Zhung is the centerpiece of Geshe Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche’s dzogchen teachings held every December at Serenity Ridge. This year, Rinpoche continues the third year of this five-year cycle. Attendance is possible both in person at Serenity Ridge and online via Zoom. The retreat begins on December 26 at 7 p.m. New York time and concludes around 2 p.m. on January 1, 2023.
