Description

Nyamé Sherap Gyaltsen founded Menri Monastery in 1405, and became its first abbot. From that time to the present the Menri abbot has held the position of leader of the Bön tradition, holder of all teachings of sutra, tantra, and dzogchen. The present abbot of Menri, His Holiness Lungtok Dawa Dhargyal Rinpoche, is the 34th Menri Trizen and is a direct lineage holder of Nyamé Sherab Gyaltsen.
