Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche Plans Yearlong Sabbatical in 2021

Ligmincha International

Geshe Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche, founder and spiritual director of Ligmincha International, is planning to take a yearlong sabbatical beginning on January 3, 2021. During that time he will be spending more time with family, making space for personal retreat, and actively engaging with and exploring stillness, silence and spaciousness.

The December 2019 issue of Voice of Clear Light has published a letter from Rinpoche to students explaining his decision. Rinpoche will continue to maintain a very active schedule throughout 2020 and encourages students to stay connected to the teachings and to each other—both next year and in 2021. Rinpoche will resume his regular schedule in January 2022.

The Ligmincha International Board of Directors is in full support of Rinpoche, who has maintained a very full teaching and travel schedule for the past 30 years. The Board letter, also published in the December VOCL, provides additional information to assist local, national and cyber sanghas during this time.

During his yearlong sabbatical in 2021, Rinpoche will hold summer retreats in both Europe (at Chamma Ling in Wilga, Poland) and the US (at Serenity Ridge in Virginia). It is anticipated that these two retreats will be fully attended. Please encourage anyone in your sangha wanting to attend either or both to register as soon as registration opens. (Check the Ligmincha website for more information later in 2020.)
