International Umdze Retreat – March 23-26, 2023

Ligmincha International had the first ever international practice retreat for our umdzes at the Great Stupa for World Peace, Chamma Ling, Valle de Bravo, Mexico in March. Ligmincha Mexico was our host, and everyone was deeply moved by their endless generosity and care for all visitors. It is impossible to visit the stupa and not feel at home.

Umdzes from Mexico, Brasil, Argentina, the United States, Ireland, Italy, Hungary and Poland came to the retreat, and others from around the world joined us online, including umdzes from Germany, France and Peru. This two and one half day event provided teachings and blessings from Rinpoche, saw the introduction of our revised code of conduct, and brought a new level of community and support to our practice leaders. Our next retreat of this kind will be in Poland in 2025. Details to come!

Annual Spring Retreat: Heartdrops of Kuntu Zangpo

Join us April 13–16 at Serenity Ridge or on Zoom for the Ligmincha’s annual spring retreat on Heartdrops of Kuntu Zangpo, also known as Heartdrops of Dharmakaya.
Heartdrops of Kuntu Zangpo provides methods for introducing the nature of the mind, which remains hidden behind clouds of thoughts and emotions until a master directly points out the source, the essence, the Heart Drop. This is the method of direct introduction to dzogchen, the highest and most subtle path of meditation in Bön. Heartdrops of Kuntu Zangpo was composed by Shardza Tashi Gyaltsen, a Tibetan master who passed in 1935, achieving the rainbow body. One of the most influential teachers of his time, his works are still used as textbooks in many Tibetan monasteries.
These are meditation methods that help the practitioner free the stories, memories, fears and anxieties that bind and discover the freedom and infinite potentiality of one’s natural mind.

A translation of Shardza Tashi Gyaltsen’s text and commentary on these essential teachings by Yongdzin Tenzin Namdak Rinpoche is presented in the book Heart Drops of Dharmakaya. Yongdzin Rinpoche is widely revered as the greatest living dzogchen master of the Bön lineage. A translation of the root text by Geshe Sonam Gurung and Dan Brown, Heart Drops of Kun tu bZang Po, also is available from Ligmincha’s Bookstore & Tibet Shop at the link above.

Rinpoche’s New A-tri Dzogchen Book Available Through Ligmincha

Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche’s new book, A-tri Dzogchen: Recognizing the Nature of Mind in the Bon Tradition, in now available in the Ligmincha Store. In A-tri Dzogchen, Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche shares essential teachings and practices for recognizing and resting with open awareness in the true nature of one’s mind.

This book grew out of teachings given to students in Amsterdam from 2013-2019. The Netherlands sangha put together a book based on these teachings that was distributed in 2021 only in the Netherlands in a very limited edition. Now the book has been revised for a broader audience.

A-tri is one of the major lineages of dzogchen, the highest teachings within the Tibetan Bon tradition, which points to the nature of one’s mind as spacious and open, luminous and aware, and the source of all positive qualities.

The teachings in this book draw on a text by thirteenth century master Drugyalwa Yungdrung, condensed into 15 sessions from an even earlier text. The book includes preliminary practices, an introduction to recognizing the nature of mind, practices to stabilize one’s presence in it, and guidance for ultimate liberation.

With his ability to make the deep teachings of ancient texts relevant and engaging to the modern world, Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche has written a book that can benefit anyone interested in exploring their own nature and recognizing the inner light of awareness that exists in every sentient being.
